On-Tap Ales Available in the Wild Rose Taproom
With the addition of a Taproom to our Brewery, we are thrilled to be able to offer our customers some of our favourite brews. If you've enjoyed our bottled beer, but haven't had the opportunity to sample our original recipes, please join us in our Taproom.
Please hop on over. If you don't know where we are, then please visit our location page.
Wild Rose Maibock (Seasonal)
Now on tap in the Taproom
Traditionally, Maibocks are brews with annual releases which have become synonymous with the celebreation of the return of spring. To bring together all of the complex flavours, this lager requries additional brewing time (more than 8 weeks). Botom fermented, our Maibock has an enticing copper colour and an intensely malty aroma due to the Munich and Vienna malts that comprise almost 30% of the malt used.
Gently hopped to profile its malt character, this 7.5% alc./vol. brew has an assertive alcohol character in both its aroma and finish.
Alberta Crude Oatmeal Stout
As with all our "Classic" recipes, this is a beer that we loved when we first brewed it, but regrettably had to shelve it until we had a suitable venue to sell it in. Now with our Taproom we are pleased to offer Calgary an alternative to the "other" stout.
Black as its namesake, with a creamy tan head, this Oatmeal Stout is velvety smooth with low carbonation. Six different malts, hops from the U.K. and (of course) oatmeal contribute to this ale's complex character. Join us in our Taproom and try a fresh Stout for a change.
WRed Wheat
A beer that had been with us nearly from the start, in 2003 a decision was made to put the WRed Wheat on the back burner and bring focus to our four bottled beers. Now that we have the Taproom, we are thrilled to announce the return of Roses WRed Wheat.
A beautiful red-amber in colour, with 4.5% alc/vol, we think Stephen Beaumont, Canada's premier beer writer, described it best when he called it an "off dry quaffer that offers a tasteful blend of caramelly sweetness and woody dryness." Join us for a pint at the Taproom and see if you agree.
SOB (Special Old Bitter)
Knowing that the word "bitter" is about as popular as the NEP in Alberta, Wild Rose remains resolute in its education and development of the Albertan beer palate.
Golden in colour and brewed to 4% alc/vol, this ale is an ideal choice to satisfy your thirst after a long day's work. Bitter by name but 'hoppy' in character, this ale is way more delicious than it is bitter.
Barley Wine (Seasonal)
Still a few bottles available for purchase in the Taproom . . .
Never one to rest on our laurels, Wild Rose has created our very first Barley Wine. Not a wine, of course, but an extra strong ale brewed to 9.3% alc./vol. The colour of a fine vintage port, this beer has a malty profile, is slightly sweet and has a warm, rich alcohol character in its aroma and flavour.
Wild Rose Cherry Porter (Seasonal)
Sadly, the Cherry Porter is all gone for another year. If you're lucky enough to still have a bottle or two - enjoy!
Like your wild uncle, this beer's in town for the holidays and gone again. At 6.5%, it's an extra cheery cherry brew so it may be wise to finish wrapping gifts before wrapping your hand around a bottle of this rich, dark porter.
Brewed using only the plumpest, ripest cherries, we're sure you'll find each smooth sip a true gift of the season.
